No heat, no cool, or no hot water? We can help.

In Follansbee homes, hot water usually disappears fast due to sediment buildup, weakened heating elements, dip tube cracks, or a tank that’s too small. Hard water along Main Street, Hooverson Heights, and the river flats speeds up these issues. Most problems are repairable unless the tank is leaking.
Hot-water loss is common across Follansbee because many homes still use older tanks that have never been flushed or upgraded. Local water carries enough mineral content to create a thick layer of sediment inside the tank. Once this forms over the heating surfaces, the tank struggles to recover between showers or laundry. Residents near Allegheny Street and Raymond Street often notice that water starts hot but cools quickly, even with light use.
Dip tube wear is another frequent concern. When the tube cracks, cold water blends with the heated layer instead of settling at the bottom. This leads to showers that begin hot and fade within minutes—a pattern seen often in Hooverson Heights and older homes near Parkview.
Tank size also plays a major role. Many Follansbee houses were originally built with 30- or 40-gallon tanks that no longer match updated bathrooms or larger families. If hot water always disappears at the same time each day, capacity is usually the limiting factor. A larger tank or a tankless setup typically eliminates these predictable shortages.
Gas water heaters may also experience burner or ignition problems that cause inconsistent temperatures. Limited airflow in older basements or utility rooms can force the burner to cycle off early, reducing recovery and shortening hot-water duration.
Hillside homes and longer vertical plumbing runs lose temperature before water reaches the upper level, making tank issues more noticeable.
If it isn’t leaking, repair may help temporarily. Once rust, leaks, or age past 12–15 years appear, replacement offers more reliable performance.
